Obituary of Edmund John Hicks

Please share a memory of Edmund to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ed Hicks, age 82, on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Bon Air Nursing Home in Cannington, following a relentless battle with dementia. Ed is survived by his children: Kelly (Chris), Dawna (Kevin) and Brian (Julie), his brother Aubrey (Betty), and his grandchildren Evan, Keegan, Megan, Colleen, Abigail and Isabelle.

Ed was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on April 6, 1943. He was a long-time employee of Chambers and Cooke, and dedicated much of his time to scouts, church, donating blood, and helping anyone and everyone who needed it. Ed was known for his work ethic, kindness and sense of humour, to name just a few key qualities. Ed will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He will forever remain in our hearts, and is now at peace.

The Family of Ed Hicks will receive friends at the THORNE FUNERAL HOME, 109 Laidlaw Street South in Cannington (705-432-2672) on Saturday, May 10th from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. A Service to celebrate his life will be held at 12 noon. Interment Cedar Vale Cemetery, Cannington. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
