Obituary of Betty Jean Charters

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Peacefully, with her family by her side on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the Bon Air Long Term Care Residence in Cannington, at age 92. Betty Jean (nee Thomson), will be dearly missed by Peter Charters, her husband of 64 years. Loving mother to Bill (Vanessa Williamson). Cherished grandmother to Kim, Cameron, and Kyle. Dear sister to James “Ted”, Gertrude (Anne), Shirley Fair (George), Bill and Ross “Doug” (Elizabeth). Predeceased by her son John (1979) and her parents Thomas “Gordon” (1987) and Althea (1988).

Betty Jean was a devoted wife to her beloved Peter, whom she spent countless days sharing their love of the outdoors with each other - canoeing and camping, and building their dream home on her ancestral land in which they resided for 32 years. She enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, crocheting, stamp collecting, and gardening. A nurturing and giving soul, Betty Jean poured her heart into her family and caring for others through her work as a registered nurse. Betty Jean always made sure you did not leave her home without a full plate or a full heart.

Rested at the THORNE FUNERAL HOME, 109 Laidlaw Street South in Cannington (705-432-2672). A Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
