Obituary of Dana Jean Chant

Please share a memory of Dana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Passed peacefully into rest on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in her 56th year, after a courageous and hard-fought journey battling cancer and awaits Christ’s return.

Dana (nee Thorne), was the cherished wife of Jim Chant for 30 years, and through it all, they created a loving home with lasting memories for their two daughters, Madison and Macy, who will deeply miss their mother’s loving presence. Lovingly remembered by her father, John Thorne. Predeceased by her mother Beverley (2021). Loved sister of Damon (Sheri) and Dustin (Suzanne). She will be dearly remembered by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her father and mother-in-law Eli and Frances Chant and her sister-in-law Janet (Amy). Affectionately remembered as Auntie Dana to Liam, Landon, Tiegan, Keeli, Tristan, Mackenzie, and Nolan, and many other extended family members and friends.

Dana delivered excellence in teaching to hundreds of students at College Park Elementary School (CPES) over 29 years, nurturing each of them with great love. A Private Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the Chant family invites those wishing to honour Dana’s memory to donate to the CPES Dana Chant Memorial Fund, as they are planning a project in her name. Donations should be made to the Dana Chant Memorial Fund either in person at CPES or via e-transfer using etransfers@cpes.ca. Please ensure that your donations are labelled “Dana Chant Memorial Fund”. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.thornefuneralhome.ca
