Dear Susan, Robyn, Erin, Allison and family; We were saddened to hear of your loss! It's a shock at any age, and yet one none of us can avoid. We are thinking of you at this difficult time. We were out of town on Saturday when the Memorial Service was held, otherwise would have extended our condolences in person. Take care of each other!

The family gatherings have became all too seldom in recent years but I have a storehouse of memories of Uncle Bert from my childhood. Most of all I remember his exuberance for fun and family that made a visit with Uncle Bert such a warm memory. Thank you Uncle Bert.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. On Sunday I received an e-mail from Jane and she mentioned that Uncle Bert was going to be 90 in September. Please know that all the family have very special memories of your Dad and your Mom, Aunt Betty. They were two very special people. Love Donna

He was a wonderful man and I will remember him especially at Mom's 90th birthday party. All of them seemed to have a lovely time together. I have great photos of them. As you said he was in pretty good health until a few weeks ago and enjoyed his life and his family I bet. He will be at peace finally and with your mom. The two of you will have such wonderful memories of your dad. I think of my dad daily and smile with some of the memories. Our two families are so lucky to have good genes and to have had family around us for so long. It can make it harder to let them go though. Thinking of you and your families at this sad time. Love Jane, John and Peter. ----- Original Message -----

My favourite memory of Grandpa was of him singing Frog in the Well (Kemo Kimo) to me when I was little. I taught it to my girls this week and they, too, loved it. As an adult, I grew to admire his generosity, quiet pride, sense of humour and intelligence. I know my husband, Steve, enjoyed hearing about his insights into the business world. I will think of him every time I have a drink of rye and remember 'that twinkle in his eye'. Love Robyn, Steve, Shannon and Brooke

I have a lot of fond memories of Uncle Bert, dad and I together. Even if it was just sitting by the pool having a "shot and a beer" before lunch, he was one of my favorite uncles and I always enjoyed his company. Even though I didn't see a lot of him after dad died, I'll miss him. I just wanted to let you and your family know you're all in my prayers. Love, Tena
