Marie Cookman
On January 1st, 2010, with family by her side, Marie passed peacefully from this world at her home in Greenbank. She was 81 years old. Mourning her loss are Ross, her best friend and husband of 63 years, daughters Catherine Cookman, Susan Cameron (Rupert) and Deborah Ruis (Ed), son Christopher Cookman (Kim), grand children Kimberley (Ruis) Schlitt (Bobby), Dan Ruis, Jacob Cookman and great grandchild Braiden Schlitt. She is survived by her brother Gerald Hill of Oshawa. Marie was a long-time contributor to her community and a charter member of the Eastern Star. Although she spent much of her time helping others in countless ways, her family always remained her priority. For this and for so much more, she will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. The family would like to extend special appreciation to Dr. Russell and the Palliative Care team for their compassion and to Betty Somerville, the CCAC team of Personal Support Workers and Community Respiratory Services, who so ably assisted with our mother's care. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Sunderland United Church, 10 Church St. in Sunderland and will be followed by an Eastern Star Service at 3:30 pm. MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 7th 2010 AT 11:00 AM AT THE GREENBANK UNITED CHURCH IN GREENBANK. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greenbank Memorial Fund or the Canadian Lung Association, would be appreciated.
