Obituary of Marlene de Vries

Marlene Onie de Vries (nee Shier) Mom passed away unexpectedly into the presence of the Lord from her home in the early hours of November 15th, 2010 after a courageous year and a half long battle with cancer. Beloved mother, sister and grandmother to children Chris (and wife Carla), Robert (and wife Tanja) and Harvey (and wife Sandra), sister Roseanne, grandchildren Hannah, Julia, Timothy & Angela. Survived by mother Leona Shier. Predeceased by father Harvey Shier in August 2009. She was in her 63rd year. Mom had previously suffered from a rare disease called Wegener's granulomatosis in September 2005. We miss her very much and are glad for every memory of her. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at 11:30 at the ST. Andrews United Church, 10 Church Street in Sunderland, Ontario. A brief graveside committal service at Sunderland Cemetery will be followed by a reception in the lower hall of Sunderland United Church. A funeral service was previously held in Richmond, BC on November 20th, 2010. l
