Today I heard of Velma's death and I am so sorry. Velma and I became friends many years ago when she shopped at my store in Woodville. We had so many laughs over coffee and goodies. Her visit to the store often made my day. Sadly after I sold the store I lost track and did not realize that she had moved to Pickering. She was a wonderful lady, a devoted Mother and a very caring wife to George. It was a pleasure knowing her. Donna MacAlpine

Our family has such fond memories of Velma. She always had a smile on her face and always a friendly hello. Raising 3 boys she had her hands full but she always managed them well. I remember her standing outside hanging out the clothes with her apron on and the smell of good food she was preparing coming from the open front door.
Memories of growing up on King St., a good place to be raised.
Larry, Cheryl, Catherine, Dave Wakelin and our Mom send our sympathy to the family.
