I had the honour of meeting this gentleman back in the spring of 1997. I was a guest at their house in Ontario as I was dating his daughter Janice at the time. I was cleaning out my office recently and I came upon photos from my visit that spring and had the pleasure of learning about the maple syrup trade. Mr. Barkey was accommodating and kind and thoughtful. My condolences to the family. This is the first I’ve heard of his passing.

Dear Dorothy, David & Angelie, Janice & Rodney, Lisa & Robert & fanily,
Our family has fond memories of the many occasions we enjoyed together during our families growing up in close communities & spending time together. David & I appreciated our times of friendship with Dorothy & Ed & all of you as well.
We have missed our closeness as distance and life has separated us in recent years.
We remember Ed as a gentle, kind, loving husband, father, friend & business associate - a very special guy.
I am so disappointed to be away & unable to be with you today as you celebrate his life and have been praying you find peace, strength and comfort with the presence of our Lord & Saviour today and in the future. I hope to connect when we return from the south.
