Obituary of Alida Agnes Koot

ALIDA AGNES KOOT (nee ZOETEMELK) May 23, 1925 - January 16, 2022 Alida was predeceased by Nick, her loving husband for 60 years, and she is survived by her children: Marianne Henderson, Leona (Chuck) Thompson, Ellen (Stewart) Arksey, Paul (Debbie), Angela (Rick) Hubers, John (Claudia), her 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Alida was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Laura Koot. Alida always had a positive outlook on life and lived a full and happy life. She was born in Wassenaar, Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada in 1949. She lived in Beaverton, Ontario, Victoria, B.C., and then back to Ontario. First and foremost, Alida loved to spend time with her family. She was an amazing mother, wife, Oma, Grand and Great Grandmother, always supportive of her family and friends. Alida played an active role at the family’s Windmill Farms and at her Church as a soloist. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook, and she worked at Butchart Gardens in BC. Alida was always active…walking and joining exercise groups. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bon Air LTC, her “home away from home”, for their wonderful care. Many of life’s loveliest things are quite plentiful in number, …like the stars that shine, fields of wildflowers and brilliant sunsets, But there’s just One of the most beautiful gifts of all… And she’s called Mother.
