Obituary of Leonard David Coates

Passed away at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, on Friday, March 18, 2022, at age 85. Son of the late Joseph and Dora Coates. Loving husband of Arlene (nee Rainey). Beloved father of Ken, and his wife Jenny. Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughter, Courtney, and her husband Josh, his bonus granddaughters; Mary and Hannah, and his great-grandchildren; Jimmy, Artie, Sammy, Nora, and Elaina, all of whom he loved dearly. Survived by his siblings; Allan Coates, Barbara Sleep, and Beatrice Blukes. Leonard was a lifetime farmer, and a social butterfly. He was a lifelong resident of Brock Township, and he will be deeply missed by all of his friends. A private service was held on Wednesday March 23, 2022 at the Thorne Funeral Home, 98 River Street, in Sunderland (705-432-2672). A public celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 141, 104 River Street, Sunderland on Saturday March 26, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.
