TO THE FAMILY OF BRIAN BASSETT. OUR SINCERE CONDOLENCES.WE HADN'T SEEN OR HEARD FROM BRIAN IN DECADES. DIDN'T KNOW WHERE HE WAS LIVING. WE GREW UP THE BEST OF FRIENDS BACK IN THE 1950'S AT THE COTTAGE ON STURGEON LAKE, FENELON FALLS.
THE SUMMERS WERE THE BEST MEMORIES AS WE WERE SO ADVENTUROUS DOING WHAT KIDS DID IN THOSE DAYS. THERE WAS A SWAMP WITH A GIGANTIC POND WE DUBBED 'LITTLE LAKE' AND WE HIKED FROM OUR COTTAGES THROUGH THE BACK WOODS WITH OUR FISHING NETS ALMOST DAILY TO SEE WHAT WE COULD CATCH. THERE WAS A HUGE RAFT THAT WE USED WITH TWO OLD TELEPHONE POLES AND BOARDS ACROSS THE MIDDLE OF IT. ALMOST LKE THE HUCKLEBERRY FINN AND TOM SAWYER ERA.
ONE DAY MY BROTHER PAUL WAS STANDING ON A BIG FLAT ROCK SO HE THOUGHT, UNTIL IT STARTED TO MOVE. LOW AND BEHOLD, PAUL YELLED TO BRIAN AND I ' IT'S A SNAPPING TURTLE '. THAT IS THE PICTURE ATTACHED.

Condolences to the Bassett family.
To say that Brian had a huge impact in my life would be an understatement. As a young man Brian was my first boss and I would work after school and weekends and many summers. Brian was an amazing teacher and instilled a strong work ethic.
Still remember eating Jane’s homemade chocolate chip cookies and Brian would always dunk his in a big glass of milk during our lunch breaks.

Dear Jane & family,
My dearest condolences go out to all for the great loss in the racing circuit. I had the privilege of knowing Brian through the many years that I was Series Photographer for the Canada Molson directed by Dissy Dean. I will also cherish the days the I was a Mosport Spedway.

Brian was a wonderful neighbour to us, always willing to lend us a hand and boy did he ever, in so many different ways. Omg so sorry Jane he will be missed a lot. I will miss seeing him around town and cutting his singed eyebrows and hair after he has been playing with fire.
