Obituary of Azariah Curtis

Roy Curtis Christened Azariah Curtis but always known as Roy, was born on September 11th, 1919 in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and died June 6 th, 2013 in Oshawa, Ontario. Roy moved to the Oshawa area as a young man and remained here apart from four years in the Canadian Army, where he served as a medic in Italy and Holland. A friendly, gregarious man, Roy lived on Tooley's Road in Courtice for almost 50 years. He worked at Maracle Press in Oshawa for over 35 years. Roy was predeceased by his brother Arch, his sister Winnie Fedusenko and an infant grandson. Roy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ellen (Dunn), his sister Violet Prouty, his children Clifford (Flora), Elaine (George) Sittlinger, Mary Lou (John) Toop, Sheila (Colin) Hill, Sandra (Archie) Palinka, twelve grandchildren and one great grandson. The family thanks the staff of Hillsdale Terraces for the wonderful care given to Roy and for the support shown to them in Roy's final days. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 20th, 2013 at College Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1164 King Street East, Oshawa, ON L1H 1H9. Donations in Roy's memory may be made to the Region of Durham, attention Hillsdale Terraces Resident's Council or to the Alzheimer Society.
