I have many wonderful memories of my long time friendship with Dennis that go back (more than a few decades) to the days of Brock High School; the farm house at McRae Beach, Pefferlaw that Dennis, Gerry and Bob called home - such fun we had there!; In later years when I returned to Woodville after several years in Toronto, long held hugs on the street in Woodville whenever we crossed paths and caught up on each others lives. My heart is broken... My sincere condolences to East Coast family; the love of his life Sheila-Mae, Dianna, Damon and their families.
Pictures: in the yard at McRae Beach circa 1973 and several years ago at my home in Woodville when Gerry Kishi came home from Australia for a visit and Dennis came over to surprise him. RIP dear friend.

My condolences to Dennis's family. I think Dennis taught me Grade 10 Science and then encouraged me to apply for a job at Brock. I was lucky to work with him to re-start my career. When he stepped down as department head, I again was lucky to follow him and have him mentor me. I have many great memories of working with Dennis, and a few parties!

I was lucky to meet Dennis in person. I had a very beautiful conversation with him. He was very kind and wise. We talked about diversity, he talked to me about how he made friends from all walks of life irrespective of which race they come from , it was a very enriching conversation, I learned from him that it’s beautiful to love unconditionally, his love had no boundaries , he will forever be remembered by the Mabanos. May his soul continue to rest in peace.

Sheila Mae and family, my deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved Dennis. I’m remembering Dennis’ smile and the twinkle in his eyes. He was a respected teacher and valued colleague at Brock, who was always ready to pitch in and lend a hand. Dennis was especially helpful coordinating my moving day 25 years ago. And bartending for my retirement party! His kindness will never be forgotten.

I have known Dennis for over 50 years as a teaching colleague and a member of the science department at Brock High School. Dennis knew his subject very well and could become frustated when others did not remain current or work as hard as he did. Dennis was a careful worker making sure that anything he was doing was done well. He was an excellent person to work with. In later life, he was often seen at auctions where he brought his wide knowledge and diligence to his bidding. Others watched him and knew that if Dennis bid on an item, it was a quality one . I will miss Dennis very much as a friend and a fellow science teacher .

Dennis was a caring, compassionate man who cared for everyone. I {Lyda} remember, as a Home Economics teacher students questioning why my room smelled of alcohol (we were baking bread). I said "perhaps this question should be asked to Mr, Gidney in science", Dennis, a great teacher, he came to me and asked "what is going on?" We had a great professional rapport and we 'team taught' many days. with other colleagues. Thank you Dennis for great memories, I will miss you.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr Gidneys passing. He was my science teacher, and he was a great teacher at Brock. Always had time for extra help when needed and loved teaching. Please accept our sincere condolences. Patti and I were brand new teachers at Brock HS in 1989. Patti taught science and Dennis was a great mentor for her. He was fabulous at all of the amazing social events with the Brock Staff and we cherished being welcomed to the Brock team.
