Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Joyce?
A: In these weeks that have passed since we lost Joyce, I’ve been reflecting on what a bright light she was in my life. I’d known Joyce for nearly 60 years, starting back in the 1960s when her family lived in Thistletown when Janine and I were small kids. Even though the Kingdons moved away when I was just ten, Joyce’s warmth and kindness were always special to me.
As a kid, I was lucky to spend summer visits at the home in Pefferlaw. And no matter where life took me, Joyce wanted to keep in touch and always kept her door open. Over the years, whether it was at family weddings, or when visiting with my young kids, or dropping by with my husband, or after my own mother’s passing, Joyce’s genuine interest in my life and family was a constant source of comfort.
Joyce’s huge heart was incredible. She made everyone feel like part of the family, and her and Ed’s home was always a place where friends and family were welcomed with open arms. She was an inspiration to me as a mother and friend.
I’ll always treasure many wonderful memories. Rest in peace, Joyce. Thank you for everything.
With much love to Ed and family,
Leanne

Joyce was my beloved, beautiful aunt and married to my uncle Ed, ever since I could remember. We lived thousands of miles apart, since I left Canada for England at the age of three with my parents, but, always kind and caring, she made sure we were kept close, a part of her wonderful, enormous family. We mostly stayed in touch by email, but my husband Paul and I made the occasional trip to Pefferlaw. - and he was made as much a part of the family as I was. Rest in peace, Joyce. Wherever you are now, I hope the Blue Jays are always winning and Coronation Street is on the TV! I don’t have many photos of her, but I have a beautiful one of her and Ed taken a few years ago when we saw them last.

Grandma, I have such fond memories of my brothers and I visiting you and Grandpa in Pufferlaw when we were young; playing in the backyard, bouncing on the trampoline, riding the lawn mower and playing with your beloved cat Pancake. I cherish those memories with you. I will miss your warmth and unconditional love. Wish we had more time together. Rest easy.
Love you, Erin

Grandma, I remember many memories at your home in Pefferlaw with the family growing up. My Mom and Dad would bring us up all the time to visit. We would always swim at Lake Simcoe, enjoy dinners & laughs together, hunt for frogs, jump on the trampoline, race around the house, camp out in your backyard, & so much more. Thank you for the memories and for your love. We will take good care of Grandpa. Your legacy will live on forever & always. Love & miss you
