Obituary of Robert Simser

Simser, Bob : Decorated Veteran who proudly served in both Canadian and American Forces (Purple Heart) during the Korean War. KVA, VFW and Legion member. Entered into rest peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013. Robert Christopher Simser, in his 83rd year, was the beloved husband of Elizabeth ( Betty ) ( formerly Saulnier nee McLane ). Loving father of Kevin and Jason Simser and stepfather of Dave (Tracey), Chris (Gail), Suzanne (Todd) and Todd. Dearly remembered by his grandchildren, Kasey, Jamie, Devyn, Peyton, Tyler, Jacob, Stevie and Ashley. Survived by one sister Phyllis. Predeceased by 7 siblings, Dalton, Doug, Gilbert, George (Phil), Doris, Kathleen and Vonnie. Bob will be missed by his beloved 4-legged pal and constant companion 'Captain'. Friends are invited to call at the Thorne Funeral Home, 109 Laidlaw St. S. in Cannington on Sunday, October 27th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Monday, October 28th, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment of cremated remains later at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, ON. As a remembrance, donations to The Royal Canadian Legion "Poppy Fund" or a Charity of your choice, would be appreciated. All members of the Royal Canadian Legion Cannington Branch 186 and the Korean Veterans Association of Lindsay and visiting Comrades, are asked to assemble for Legion Service in the Chapel on Sunday, October 27th, 2013 at 7:00 pm.
