I was so very sorry to hear of Joye's passing. Our family grew up with Joye in our lives; her at Aunt Esma's at Brinkman's Corners and our family was just up the road at Dyer's Bay. She and our oldest sister remained very dear friends all these years. She was a special lady and I feel privileged to have shared even such a tiny part of her life. To her husband Wayne, her children and grandchildren, her brothers and family, to her friend Brenda and all her friends I will never meet, I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of such sorrow.

Never got to meet this wonderful lady, but through her Red Hat Friends, I feel like I know her so well, yet missed a great opportunity at not having met her. To her family, and to her friends, and she had several, I send my condolences. Sleep well dear Joye. An unmet friend, Florence Tillson.

I was so deeply saddened to hear of the passing of 'Mrs.Currie'. She was my kindergarten teacher. Countless times throughout the years, I had often thought of her - remembering her so fondly for her kindness and caring ways - she was so beautiful, inside and out. I often shared stories with my children about 'My Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Currie' and how special she was to me - she enriched so many children, who have been truly benefited by her teaching and nurturing - an inspiration to all who knew her. Although you are experiencing such sadness with her loss, I know you will be experiencing a great deal of pride of how many lives your 'wife/mom' so positively inspired - May all your wonderful memories you've shared together and those others have shared with her, somehow help comfort you through this time of sorrow. Thinking of You All

So sorry in hearing of Mrs. Curries passing. She was my kindergarten teacher and I just adored her. For the first while I would cry because I was homesick but Mrs. Currie helped me through that tough time and made me feel better, until I got use to being away from home. She was always smiling and she loved all *her* children. She will be greatly missed and certainly not forgotten by anyone that knew her. I know I will never forget her as being my very first teacher. Love u Mrs. Currie

When I think of Joye, my memories go back to around 1965 or 1966 when I was 10 or so and Joye would be 20. I was at Auntie Hazels and Uncle Roys for my summer "retreat". Joye, I'm guessing would have been at teacher's college--maybe home for the summer. When she walked through the door this one particular day, the first thought that sprung to my mind was--WOW, she looks exactly like my "Barbie Doll", she was so beautiful. Another wonderful memory is of her and my dad with their big "water fights" at the ice-cream picnic at Grandpa Papa's in Stokes Bay.
The years fly by, but some things seem like only yesterday.

Wayne, Darren & Amber My sincere sympathies on the loss of your wife and mother. I have wonderful memories of Mrs. Currie and when our mother was in the hospital in Toronto, Joye would sometimes take us home with her and always showed that she cared by helping our Dad in this very hard time. She treated my sister Bonnie and I with that special warm heart that she gave to every girl and boy each and everyday of her teaching life. She kept a special eye on Bonnie and I during public school and we always came back during our time at Brock High to stop in and say hi. I have always held Joye in high esteem and no one I have ever talked to hasn't said "Mrs. Currie was the best teacher I ever had". Our loss of a great woman is heaven's gain. I will remember her fondly and know that you all have wonderful memories as we do. Thank you all for sharing this special woman with us!

I was reminded by a childhood friend, that kindergarten was 40 years ago, and yet it feels like yesterday, picturing the layout of the room and meeting a tall, blonde, smiling face with the most caring voice and big blue eyes. Entering Mrs. Currie's room for many of us was entering a day of excitement and fun, where lifelong relationships blossomed and learning happened easily. We sat on coloured tiles in a circle on the floor, while she played the piano and we sang. We had puzzles and crafts at the tiny tables and chairs and we all waited with baited breath for our turn to play dress up and house behind the piano. Childhood memories flood me today as I recall Mrs. Currie... memories that feel like it was yesterday, and are filled with great fondness. Thanks for the great start in life and learning, Mrs. Currie! You were everybody's favourite teacher!
