We have so many fond memories of “Grandma Joan and Grampa Harold” when they lived next door to us on River Street. They were surrogate grandparents to our Caitlin and Iain when they were growing up. Joan never made a fuss if the kids were too noisy outside and often came out with treats for them. It was Joan who finally convinced Caitlin as a toddler to throw away her pacifier by throwing it in the air as hard as she could so “the baby birds could have it”. I will always remember the amazing aroma of her homemade chilli sauce wafting from next door and hoping I would get a jar (or two). I also remember her love of baseball and when she hurt her ankle. She was always busy and on the go even after her injury. We are glad that she and Harold are reunited and hope there are great ball games in heaven.
