Jen and I are shocked and saddened by Nick’s passing. We could always expect a smiling face and a good chat whenever he was delivering fuel, walking by on the street with Maureen and the funny looking pooches, or meeting at a neighborhood get together. Nick and Maureen were there with their support to Jen after my accident. I was hoping I could get in a game of golf with him as I believe he had the same level of skill at the game as mine (which was “so-so” to “who cares”). Either way, I’m sure we would have had a lot of fun anyway.
All I know is that I will continue to think of Nick and wave hello to him every time a blue fuel truck approaches me on the roadway. Now it will be accompanied by a little sadness that he is not here to smile and wave back.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with Maureen and family as they continue on their daily lives with him forever in their hearts.
I never knew Nick to be a rich man, but as we waited outside in line to go into the full church to convey our condolences at one of the three viewings, I could only think that a whole community has suffered the loss of a good friend. It reminded me of a saying I heard before, but had to look up;
“To be rich in friends is to be poor in nothing.” - Lilian Whiting.
With this, I believe Nick was one of the richest men I know. Godspeed friend!

Nick, I am incredibly saddened to hear of your passing but I know that yours was a life well lived. We never know the years that we have been dealt. Blackwater seems a lifetime ago. Thinking of past times as we spoke while you delivered our oil. You were always so cheerful and upbeat. I will remember you.
Thinking of Maureen and family at this time.

We have been a neighbour of Ron's for ten years, and we were heartbroken to hear the news of his passing. A wonderful neighbour and the kindest man you could ever hope to meet.
Seeing Ron and Maureen walking their dogs or Ron out doing work on his lawn, he was always quick with a smile and a wave and always had time to chat.
They told me what a great job I did, backing my camping trailer into my driveway for the first time. To be honest, it was a disaster, and it took me about 45 minutes to finally park it. Their kind words still make me smile.
We will miss Ron very much, and our street will never be quite the same. Our thoughts are with Maureen and the family during an incredibly challenging time. If there is anything you ever need, we are all here for you.
Wishing you all peace, love and strength.

Nick was our neighbour for over 20 years and you couldn’t ask for a nicer man or a better neighbour. He always had a smile on his face and a friendly wave when we would see him. The street won’t be the same without him. Our deepest condolences to Maureen and family. He will be greatly missed.

*A toast to Nick*
May your light forever shine, and your cup always be full. And most importantly may your "Timmies" always be cold!
One for you and one for me our friend.
My favorite picture of my kids from Rideau which is my happy place where we had alot of great laughs and you both got your "Timmies" coffee cups!
We love you Moe and if we can be there for you we will.
We love you Nick and I'm sure you would be proud I'm drinking your " coffee" too!

We have had the honour and pleasure of being Nick’s neighbour for more than 25 years. You could not ask for a better neighbour.
We have many fond memories of Nick over the years that include campfires and drinks, street parties for birthdays and holidays, walking on the trails with his dogs, cutting the grass and having yard “chats” to name a few.
One thing we still laugh about today is seeing Nick and Maureen running through our side lot, nets in the air, trying to catch a rogue bunny that was causing havoc with their dogs.
We always smiled at Nick cutting his side hill by the pool with his cleats on so he did not slip (that was so cleaver!!!!)
Nick was always concerned about cutting the grass at the same time as ours so the lawns looked good together.
Nick loved his crane that was high up on the top of a tree stump. To pay tribute to his crane we secretly added a Christmas tree with lights and a stocking at Christmas time. I think he liked that!!
Nicks attachment to some old garden gnomes sparked many years of neighbourly fun and mischief.
We could tell the time of day by Nick’s comings and goings.
Nick is one of the best guys we know and we will miss him everyday!!!!!!
With love, Geoff, Christine, Todd & Adam McNair
